Maybe you have already been visiting our church for mass. Maybe you feel a pull to learn more about Catholicism. You could be searching for truth. Perhaps you are dating or marrying a Catholic. Maybe you grew up Catholic but never received your First Communion or Confirmation.
Whatever your reasons, if you find yourself wanting to learn more about Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, we are here to help! Our parish is very diverse and regularly welcomes new people. We are eager to meet you.We have a group for adults that meets weekly, Sept through May, to learn about the faith and support those who are interested prepare to become Catholic. The process of becoming Catholic is called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
People who begin the process are called Inquirers, and are able to ask questions and learn more about the faith in a relaxed small group environment and meeting with a catechist (teacher of the faith). This is a chance for people to learn about our parish community, how Christians practice their faith in everyday life, and our beliefs about God. Sometimes these groups also include baptized Christians who are interested in entering the Catholic church and adult Catholics who have not received confirmation.
If an inquirer decides to enter the church, the process can take a few months to a few years, depending on the individual. People enter the Church when they are ready, in consultation with the pastor. Usually this is at the Easter Vigil in the Spring. Catholic sponsors also help people with the process of joining the community and living as a Christian. Watch the videos below to learn more. -
