Coffee and donuts are served in the Parish Hall most Sundays after the 8:30 AM Mass. Coffee, tea, milk, juice and donuts are available. This is an opportunity to meet other parishioners, get to know them, and enjoy coffee and donuts while you visit. All are welcome! Contact Mike and Terri Hecksel to volunteer or for more information about the program at 482-3196.
The Parish Library is usually available during this period of time.
Parish Potlucks are held most Wednesday evenings at 6 pm in the Parish Hall. Attendees are asked to make a $2.00 donation for the main dish and provide a side dish or dessert for the potluck and your table service.
The potluck is presented by several teams of parishioners who prepare the main entree, set up and clean up. The more teams willing to help, the less often each team's turn comes.
This is a good opportunity to share a meal and meet other parishioners.
Following the potlucks on the last Wenesday of the month, two activities are held. "Hooks and Needles" is an opportunity to bring a project you are working on, get your handiwork questions answered and meet with others who are stitching, knitting, crocheting, etc. Game night is also held on the last Wednesday, providing an opportunity to play cards or join in a board game for an hour or two.
If you would like to help an existing cooking team, form a new cooking team or for additional information, please contact Mike or Terri Hecksel at 482-3196.
All are welcome!
Jackie Timmer, a St. Mary parishioner, a former teacher and a lover of books and learning, has been working with the Knights of Columbus, the Director of Religious Education, and Msgr. Reilly to bring you a parish library. It is located in the Parish Hall between Sunday Masses (9:30 - 11:00 AM).
All age groups will be served by this library. Anyone who wishes to check out a book may fill out a card with contact information and use the check-out cards in each item. We have some items to start with but are hoping for donations. We are looking for any wholesome books, DVDs, VHS tapes, or CDs (music or other audio). Donated items do not need to be explicitly Catholic as long as they are not against Church teaching.
If you would like to purchase a new item for the library, we have created wish lists on Amazon.com and aquinasandmore.com. Look for "wish list" and search for “St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish Library”.
If you have questions or concerns, please email Jackie at email@example.com.
Do you knit, crochet, paint, carve, weave, scrapbook, do needlepoint, make jewelry, or have a unique talent? Any and all handcraft projects are welcome. We are open to new ideas and suggestions. You are welcome to bring along your friends.
Hooks and Needles usually meets the last Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Seton Room of the Parish Center. There are a couple months where the group meets earlier in the month because of holidays, but date changes are always put in the bulletin. Contact Joyce Brennan at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The St. Mary Cathedral annual parish potluck picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the large pavilion at Grand Woods Park from 4-8 PM. Dinner at 5:00 PM. Meat and beverages will be provided. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite dish to pass.
This year there will be drawings for items that have been donated for the parish picnic. Perhaps you are willing to donate a gift card to your favorite restaurant, gas station, store. Perhaps another gift or homemade item. Please no "White Elephants". Drop off in the Sacristry after Masses or the Parish Office. Contact Jan and Mike Maurer at 517-886-6328 if you have questions about donations.
The park is located on Willow west off Waverly Road, north of St. Gerard as the road turns to go west again. Any questions can be directed to Mike or Terri Hecksel at 482-3196.
It was a great turn out last year and hope that you will put it on your calendar for August 14th.
